Trivial Saturday

About an hour ago I was walking on Central Park South and was reminded of the trivia quiz I'd participated around there twice. I realized that the quiz had been in June at least once so maybe I should look it up when I got home...and look what I saw! The quiz is this Saturday at locations around the country and world. I just sent an e-mail in order to register and I hope it's not too late. There are entirely too many sports questions...especially cricket and soccer-related, but I love a good trivia quiz.

I'll also be at the Washington Post Hunt this Sunday. June is busting out all over!

Bring on the Fall!

Now that we finally have true summer weather in New York I'm finally miserable about the weather. I can't even seem to drag myself two avenues over to do some shopping. Cool Scandinavia totally spoiled me. In the meantime I'm looking forward to the following events in New York in the early fall:

Sept. 13: Broadway on Broadway
Sept. 13: Brooklyn Book Festival
Sept. 27: Broadway Flea Market
Oct. 4: Pickle Day
Oct. 4: Atlantic Antic

Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen

Is this what I have to look forward to?

"This may count as TMI, but the Danish are very clean, and now so are we. The Bellahøj aquatics facility is absoultely gorgeous, with ultra pristine water (that's a perfect 78 degrees!). How pristine? Glad you asked. They don't require JUST a silly little shower before you get into the pool. No. In each shower room, there is a life size diagram of a human body with large red circles around the the body parts that must be scrubbed with soap before entering the pool. And yes, the nether regions are circled. (As are pits and feet.) You're thinking, 'Big deal. No one showers before getting in the pool. Pool here I come!' They have a nether region scrubbing official in the shower who watches everyone to make sure everyone has stripped naked and, just to humiliate you that much further, watches said body scrubbing. It wasn't just the guys, ladies - the women have their own nether region cleaning police as well. And they make you shower after every bathroom use! So, needless to say, TNYA has never been cleaner!" -- E-mailed from a friend in Team New York Aquatics

LiveJournal Video Confusion

Does anyone else experience this: whenever any of my friends includes a video clip, it always shows the clip from the last person who included one. It makes for some interesting juxtapositions, such as commentary about the Gates situation in Cambridge, MA including a clip for the local crazies in Santa Cruz, CA.

The right clip shows when I click on the Comment button.

Metric2Metric

I logged into my iTunes Connect account yet again this morning but now my Metric2Metric application is "Ready for Sale!" I just checked the iPhone/iPod Touch App Store and there it was!

Here's the description I wrote for it:

The metric system is easy to understand, but it is not always easy to remember the difference between milli and micro or yotta and yocto. This simple-to-use, one-screen application will be useful to engineers, scientists, students, or anyone else needing help converting kilograms to micrograms or attoseconds to zettaseconds!
